History

The South Travancore Agency For Rural Development (STARD) was constituted as a society on 01/01/1979 by 12 members of various Marthoma churches in the Trivandrum district under the leadership of Rev.A.Ninan Oommen. The main objective of the society is
• To provide , organise maintain , develop, control, conduct projects and organisations both agricultural and industrial nature of what ever nature and educational institutions like schools, balavadies, crèches etc for the benefit of the weaker section of the community especially women and children.
• To establish project for settlement, rehabilitation and betterment of economic educational and social condition of the weaker section of the community.
• To strive for the spiritual, economic , educational, social and cultural amelioration of the poor and needy sections of the general public with out distinction of caste, colour, creed, language or religion.
The Society was registered under the Travancore- Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act (Act XII of 1955) and the registration number is 78/ 1979.

From 1979 onwards various projects were undertaken by the society and had helped many families in social and economic development in the Rural areas in and around Trivandrum. STARD was able to help the children in attaining social, educational and economical development by conducting classes and imparting training sessions.
The torch which was lit by our founders had shown way for the development in these rural areas and STARD is committed to fulfill their dreams.
